Schools and colleges

A group of young children dancing together on a stage

We believe access to dance and the arts is fundamental when it comes to the development of children and young people. Not only does it provide a window into new worlds, but it helps build self-confidence, imagination and empathy.

Schools and colleges play a pivotal role in connecting students to cultural experiences. We have a range of programmes that aim to help students connect with the world of dance.

Associate Schools

We partner with a number of schools and colleges in north and east London, giving their students access to world-class dance.

We work closely with them, helping to embed arts-inspired activities into the school day. Together, we create more opportunities for students to watch, explore and learn through dance, drawing on Sadler’s Wells’ diverse artistic programme.

Breakin’ Convention Schools Programme

Breakin’ Convention works with schools and local education authorities, creating events and courses to help more young people experience dance as part of their education.

Whether it’s hip hop workshops, courses for special education needs (SEN) schools or combining dance skills with science – Breakin’ Convention can offer established programmes or can tailor an experience to suit any need.

If you’d like to know more about the projects we’ve created, or how we could work with you to create a bespoke project, please get in touch. We’re always happy to help.

Theatre visits

We want to help as many children and young people experience world-class dance as possible. So we provide opportunities for schools and colleges to bring students into our theatres and attend live performances of some of the best dance from around the world.

Many of the shows we present have discounted performances for schools, including matinee performances that fit in with the school day.

If you have any questions theatre visits or discounts for schools, please get in touch with our colleagues in the ticket office. We’re always happy to help.

We have a variety of free resources to support teaching dance to children and young people.

As well as a range of dance styles, we look at the work of leading dance artists and choreographers. These resources include pre-recorded workshops as well as written teaching guides for a number of productions.
