Aspire Dance Mentoring Scheme

Increasing access for young dancers to vocational and prevocational training: Connecting the Further Education and Youth Dance sectors: Raising awareness of CPD opportunities to graduates and professionals.
A London Youth Dance/Council for Dance Education and Training (CDET) three tiered initiative partnering up a group of ten gifted and talented young people seeking a career in dance performance with a vocational dance student each who is in turn matched with a mentor from the profession. The project was piloted in 2007/08 and after significant changes were made to the structure it was piloted again in 2008/09. We aim to run one scheme per year engaging ten young people, ten vocational students and ten professional dancers. In 2008/9 the London Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) schemes were involved in selecting successful candidates and CAT taster days have been included within the programme of activity.
