Backstage Pass

Connect launched Backstage Pass in 2006 and has since worked with over 40 primary and secondary schools. The project is funded by the 29th May 1961 Charitable Trust and aims to introduce young people to the theatre experience through performance visits, backstage tours and participation in dance workshops.

Each school is offered a package that comprises of:

  • A fun creative dance workshop or short series of workshops, in or out of school time, delivered by experienced, professional dance artists
  • A backstage tour of Sadler's Wells
  • Tickets to see a performance at Sadler’s Wells, including interval refreshments and a pre or post performance talk
Through Backstage Pass schools from across London, often with little access to dance provision, have had the opportunity to work with acclaimed visiting and associate companies including George Piper Dances, Rambert Dance Company, Jonzi D Productions, English National Ballet, Northern Ballet Theatre, Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, The Snowman, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre and Wayne McGregor|Random Dance.
