Schools

Sadler's Wells is committed to developing tomorrow's artists and audiences. To this end, we prioritise working with schools and young people to foster an enjoyment and enthusiasm for dance from an early age.

Schools
Schools can get involved in a wide range of workshops and projects in a range of dance styles. Led by our visiting companies, Associates or skilled freelance dance leaders, these opportunities provide a compelling introduction to dance while promoting innovative and creative learning models.

Special projects, including Backstage Pass for Years 5 - 11 and Connections for Years 7 - 11, aim to encourage young people to engage with the concept of 'going to the theatre'. These projects draw on our diverse dance programme and include in-school workshops, backstage tours and performance visits. By enhancing pupils enjoyment of dance and appreciation for the performer, we hope to foster an awareness of theatre etiquette and the role as an audience member.

Longer term dance development projects such as Holloway Boyz and Leaps and Bounds, enable us to work intensively with selected North London secondary schools to support the development of dance on and off the curriculum. Most projects are offered to schools free of charge and include workshops and performance visits.
