Youth Dance SpaceXchange

Building upon the SpaceXchange database of spaces suitable for dance, as recommended in the Tony Hall Review, whilst building partnerships with Arts Officers and other organisations and supporting and advocating for youth dance activity in the 32 London boroughs.

A fully funded (by London Councils) pan London three year project designed to reward youth dance groups who volunteer their time to their local community by offering pro rata free access to dance space in which to practice their dance activity. Two youth dance groups per borough over 3 years will be matched with a community centre with suitable dance space. Young people involved in the scheme will be signposted to other volunteering opportunities including London Youth Dance and Youth Dance England projects and activities. The resulting list of new dance spaces will swell the existing SpaceXchange directory hosted on londondance.com. Performances will take place at the Lilian Baylis Studio in order to showcase the work and a panel of young people will be recruited from the engaged groups to lead on the planning, production and delivery of these performances.
