Associates Summer School

The first Sadler's Wells Associates Summer School took place in 2007 and offered young people with a keen interest in dance, between the ages of 14 and 19, the chance to learn, create and perform with some of the UK's top professionals directly linked with Sadler's Wells; associate artists and resident companies.

An integral part of the course is the creative sessions with the student's chosen company. In 2008 participating companies were Wayne McGregor | Random Dance, Matthew Bourne's New Adventures and Jonzi D Productions. These sessions provide the opportunity to develop creative and choreographic skills and to interact with professional dance artists, working towards an informal sharing for family and friends in the Lilian Baylis Studio.

Additional classes for all students include street dance, physical theatre and ballet, as well as a careers seminar. Young people on the 2008 summer school also attended a matinee performance of West Side Story.

The Associates Summer School aims to provide a range of classes to stretch skills and appeal to everyone. All classes are aimed at mixed ability levels with an emphasis on having fun no matter what your previous dance experience may be.
