Alvin Ailey is one of the giants of American dance. His company, founded in 1958, has been seen in over 70 countries by audiences in excess of 21 million. Under the direction of Judith Jamison since Ailey’s death in 1989, the 30 AAADT dancers seduce us with their verve, charm and explosive energy.

"In all the dance world there is nothing quite like Revelations and the ardor it evokes"
THE WASHINGTON TIMES

The Company presents three programmes which combine popular music, gospel and jazz, and fuse modern dance and ballet.

Highlights include Alvin Ailey’s most famous work, Revelations - a glorious celebration of the rousing gospel and spiritual music of 1930s Texas which inspires audiences whenever it is performed, and Night Creature, one of three works being performed in which Ailey collaborated with the legendary Duke Ellington.

"Wherever they go they raise the roof - the sheer joy flooding across the footlights is irresistible"
