Anoushka Shankar - Svatantrya

Schooled in the Indian classical music tradition by her father, the great maestro Ravi Shankar, Anoushka Shankar is a spellbinding Sitar player who fuses East and West using both acoustic and electric instrumentation, and has collaborated with artists including Philip Glass, Sting and Herbie Hancock.
Svatantrya was inspired by Anoushka’s personal struggles through a difficult year which contained much pain and loss. Presented in three parts, this new work features live music and dancers including Mythili Prakash, plus former Cirque du Soleil aerial artist Asa Kubiak.- "Juding from Anoushka's performance, Ravi Shankar has much to be proud of - the family musical tradition seems safe in his daughter's nimble fingers"
