Arctic Circle - Silje nes with Seeland and Rival Consoles

Norwegian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Silje Nes is mesmerising to watch live. She makes use of whatever equipment she can get hold of - guitars and an old synth, a cello, a drum kit, a laptop, as well as loop pedals to build layers of her own playing. Nes gradually builds loops on a loop-station through guitar picking, singing, playing a drum kit and other percussion (tambourine, glass bottle, etc) and a xylophone, sometimes being accompanied by a little robot that beats a kick drum.
This performance is presented by The Arctic Circle, a community of musicians, composers, artists and VJs showcasing current and future musical talents. Although credited by The Independent as one of London's first "classical" night clubs, The Arctic Circle's artists encompass a refreshing melting pot of contemporary classical, lap-top ambience, live electronica and DJs in a cool, comfortable and fun environment.
With recent appearances at South Bank's Hayward Gallery, Union Chapel, Spitz, Bush Hall, the ICA, Whitechapel Art Gallery, Tate Britain and Notting Hill Arts Club, these live events have been recommended by The Independent, Guardian, Telegraph, Mojo Magazine, Classical Music and Time Out.
