British Youth Opera — The Magic Flute / Albert Herring

Archived Show
British Youth Opera celebrates its 21st birthday in 2007, and as the company comes of age so too do the characters featured in this pair of operas.

In Mozart’s The Magic Flute, young lovers Tamino and Pamina must face a series of trials to prove their love and achieve a happy future together, helped by spiritual leader Sarastro, and legendary bird-catcher Papageno. A sublime and magical masterpiece.

Benjamin Britten’s comic genius is vividly demonstrated in his colourful and intoxicating score for Albert Herring - the hilarious tale of a young man breaking free from his inhibitions, the limitations of village life, and his mother!

Join BYO’s talented young singers at the start of their careers, and their resident orchestra Southbank Sinfonia, to celebrate 21 years of success with two brilliant new productions of these classic operas, both sung in English.

BYO may be a training company, but when everything clicks together like this, you wouldn't know it
