Crystal Pite's Kidd Pivot — Lost Action

Archived Show

UK PREMIERE

Our £10 Debut series has already been a huge success, introducing hot new artists like Emanuel Gat and Bruno Beltrão to UK audiences. The latest instalment of the series will see Canadian choreographer Crystal Pite and her company Kidd Pivot perform for the first time in the UK.

Fuelled by the outstanding abilities of seven performers (including Crystal Pite herself), Lost Action explores themes of conflict and loss in a captivating series of solos, duets and ensemble moments, which merge fluid movement with violent gestures.

A thrilling analysis of dance and the body becomes a metaphor for life and loss in this emotionally gripping work, which is set to a diverse soundtrack by long-term collaborator Owen Belton.

"She keeps us on guard in uncompromising dance terms"

"Pite’s strength is how she works her ideas physically, exploring them in kinetic terms to make thrilling choreography"
THE DANCE CURRENT

A former dancer with William Forsythe’s Ballett Frankfurt, Crystal Pite was the youngest person ever to receive the Clifford E. Lee Choreographic Award in 1995 and was formerly choreographer-in-residence at Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal. These performances are part of the Sadler’s Wells Debut initiative, designed to introduce new choreographers to UK audiences for the special low price of £10.
