Daniel Linehan — Zombie Aporia
Zombie means living and dead. Aporia means logical contradiction. The title of choreographer and performer Daniel Linehan’s latest work is a hybrid of two words that have never been joined together before - not according to Google anyway.
In Zombie Aporia, Linehan sets out to create unusual hybrids; musical rhythms colliding with opposing dance rhythms, or physical manipulations that result in the distortion of the voice. The audience are left with the proposal that no aspect of a performance can exist in isolation.
New York-born Daniel Linehan’s work has been greeted with critical praise both at home and in Europe. From 2008 to 2010, he studied at the world-renowned dance school PARTS in Brussels, where he is now based as a choreographer. He has danced for Miguel Gutierrez, Mark Haim and Wil Swanson, as well as collaborating with Michael Helland. In 2011 he made his London debut at the Lilian Baylis Studio with a Montage for Three and Not About Everything.
