Destino Programme
The Empire's Fall
Junaid Jemal Sendi and Addisu Demissie perform with four members of the Hofesh Shechter Company, accompanied by an atmospheric, percussive digital soundtrack written by Shechter himself.
A Holding Space
A new work choreographed by Russell Maliphant and Adam Benjamin, performed by Jemal Sendi and Demissie. A holding space… in which two men wait, and while waiting, unfold their stories.
Destino
Destino is a landmark dance choreographed by Dance United Artistic Director Tara-Jane Herbert and Susannah Broughton. Exploring themes of hope, choice and destiny, the work brings over 130 nonprofessionals to the stage. This intergenerational cast aged from 9 to 89 - is drawn from the many communities surrounding Sadler's Wells. Accompanying the dancers is Samuel Barber's emotive Essay No 1 for Orchestra and the symphonic force of Leonard Bernstein's On The Waterfront Suite. Destino promises to deliver an inspiring and unforgettable event.
