  • The Ballets Russes 100 years on and how its heritage impacts on and inspires today's artists
  • What keeps the Ballets Russes 'alive' and why it is important for modern audiences?
  • What lessons does Diaghilev have for directors, companies and audiences now?
Special guests Artistic Director, Wayne Eagling, and Guest Teacher/Repetiteur, Maina Gielgud.

Music Innovators
Wed 17 June, 6pm - 6.45pm
Join members of English National Ballet's exceptional Orchestra for an insightful journey through the music of Ballets Russes. Enjoy a lively presentation led by Gavin Sutherland, Music Director of English National Ballet.

Exploring Ballets Russes
Thu 18 June, 2pm
English National Ballet presents a special performance. The first act gives the opportunity to see English National Ballet's dancers in rehearsal as the Artistic team deconstructs sections of the repertoire. Following an interval the Company performs the tragically beautiful The Dying Swan and visually captivating Schéhérazade.

Tickets £7.50 (schools), £10, £15, £20.


Discovering Ballets Russes
Thu 18 June, 10.30am - 12.30pm
Join English National Ballet and be transported to an era of great dance innovation.
Behind-the-scenes activities include a costume demonstration, observation of English National Ballet dancers in their daily class and a live music presentation by members of English National Ballet's Orchestra.

Ages 16+
£18 per person including ticket for Exploring Ballets Russes at 2pm on Thursday 18 June.


Dressing the Stage: Picasso and Ballets Russes
Fri 19 June, 6pm - 7pm
Wizzy Shawyer, Head of Costume at English National Ballet and Jane Pritchard deliver a fascinating presentation exploring the stylistic elements in the costumes of the Ballets Russes, drawing comparisons between the styles and demonstrating the influence of the Ballets Russes designs.

Suitable for ages 14+
£5 per adult. £3.50 for students.


Ballets Russes On-stage Masterclass
Sat 20 June, 9am - 12.30pm
This on-stage repertoire masterclass focuses on Kenneth MacMillan's The Rite of Spring. Led by Repetiteurs from English National Ballet, Jane Haworth and Yuri Uchiumi.

Ages 14+
For dancers currently studying ballet at Elementary level and above.
£15 for the masterclass and behind-the-scenes activities.
