Family Weekend — balletLORENT Rapunzel
After sell-out performances of Underneath the Floorboards at Sadler's Wells Lilian Baylis Studio last year, balletLORENT returns to Family Weekend to perform a new version of the Brothers Grimm fairytale, Rapunzel, written by Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy.
- "Liv Lorent was born to choreograph. Every move she creates, every piece of music she selects is handed to the audience like a precious gift"
- THE SCOTSMAN
Best-known for her cascading hair and entrapment within a tall tower, Rapunzel’s story is told by Lesley Sharp and shows the darker beauty of this classic tale – from the parents forced to give up their child and the Witch who takes her from them, to the Prince who comes to her rescue. This colourful and enchanting production is directed and choreographed by Liv Lorent, with captivating music by Murray Gold (Doctor Who) and beautiful costumes by Michele Clapton (Game of Thrones).
Family Weekend is Sadler’s Wells’ annual two-day festival where the fun continues before and after the performance. With an array of exciting games and activities happening all over the building, this is an event that offers entertainment for all the family.
