Flamenco Festival London 10th Anniversary

Flamenco Festival London, Sadler’s Wells’ renowned annual season of flamenco dance and music celebrates its tenth anniversary in 2013 with a spectacular programme of the very best dancers and musicians that flamenco has to offer. This year’s festival features eight magnificent productions in the main house and two special performances in the Lilian Baylis Studio. There will also be additional events happening around the building.

Tapeos -  Flamenco Empírico
Tapeos is a series that has been designed to encourage creativity and risk, an opportunity for young, experimental artists from any style of dance and music to have the chance to be part of the Festival. Reflecting a range of dance backgrounds and international influences, the pieces that have been selected are Young Man (DeNada Dance Theatre), Cambiar de Piel (Compañía La Típica), Anónimo (Yiota Peklari) and an extract from Pieles (Paula Quintana). These works, chosen by the curator, Juan Carlos Lérida, are approximately fifteen minutes in length and will be performed on the Mezzanine at Sadler’s Wells on the 15th, 16th and 22nd of March respectively. Please note, performances begin at 6.30pm, with the exception of Pieles, which will begin at 6.45pm.

On the same evenings as the Tapeos, Sadler’s Wells will present a Spanish Food and Wine Festival. Taking inspiration from the Flamenco Festival, audiences will be able to enjoy some of the wonderful food and wine that Spain is famous for. The traditional tapas menu will feature traditional full-flavoured Andalucian dishes that have been expertly matched with Spanish wines.
