Guy Cools with Jonathan Burrows and Matteo Fargion - body:language series

The pairing of Jonathan Burrows, choreographer and ex-Royal Ballet soloist, and composer Matteo Fargion, produced a trilogy of work that received international critical acclaim for their intelligence, humour and musicality. Since 2002, the duo have given 144 performances of Both Sitting Duet, The Quiet Dance and Speaking Dance in 36 countries, winning a 2004 New York Dance And Performance Bessie Award.
- "A lot of developments in the 20th century history of dance go back to influential rhythm teachers (Dalcroze, Schirren) or composers. From the very beginning of his career as an independent choreographer Jonathan has been dialoguing with Mateo, the composer. This dialogue culminated into three remarkable duets researching the essence of the rhythmical and musical body. In our talk we will both look back at their roots and their future aspirations."
- GUY COOLS
This special event is an opportunity to see the pair in discussion with Guy Cools, an international curator, writer, and dramaturg who has worked on several productions well known to Sadler's Wells audiences including zero degrees and Sacred Monsters. He is currently teaching, writing, lecturing and publishing in Europe and Canada.
