Ivana Müller — Playing Ensemble Again & Again

Archived Show

UK PREMIERE

Award-winning choreographer, performance artist and director Ivana Müller returns to the Lilian Baylis Studio with her latest production.

"An oblique, original work. A fascinating reflection on being"
EVENING STANDARD on While We Were Holding It Together

In Playing Ensemble Again and Again, six performers start off where most other groups finish: with a bow. As they slowly move together through time and space, they think about the piece they have just performed, reconstructing their lives step by step. Time is distorted through spoken word, tableaux and movement to create a beautifully intimate performance-within-a-performance, which is at once funny, dramatic and sad.

Ivana Müller's work has been presented in more than 20 countries around the world. This is her second visit to Sadler's Wells after a hugely successful debut with the cult work While We Were Holding It Together.

"A quite extraordinary excavation of what theatre is and the role the audience plays in the performance. Totally fascinating"
LYN GARDNER (THE GUARDIAN) on While We Were Holding It Together
