La La La Human Steps - Amjad

Founder and Artistic Director of La La La Human Steps, Édouard Lock, takes classical ballet and gives it a whole new frenetic twist to create choreography that is startling, breathtaking and beautiful.
Known for blending highly physical choreography with rock music, visual art and multi-media – not to mention working with David Bowie and Frank Zappa – Lock now takes a new direction with his latest work, re-visiting his classical ballet roots.
- "La La La Human Steps produce dance shows that not only guarantee choreographic flash, but eye-catching scenic effects and large doses of theatricality"
- THE GLOBE AND MAIL (CANADA)
Amjad draws on the most famous of romantic ballets, Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty. On stage a quartet of piano, cello and violins play a score by Gavin Bryars, who adapts and rearranges Tchaikovsky’s original score with gorgeous results. Against a projected film montage of forests and pearls, nine dancers perform with impressive precision, demonstrating graceful, classical movement - but at twice the normal speed.
Packed with physical and emotional impact, Lock lets us enjoy classical technique from a refreshing new perspective.
