Neelam Mansingh Chowdhry — Nagamandala
Weaving together traditional folk tales, director Neelam Mansingh Chowdhry’s adaptation of Girish Karnad's beautiful play Nagamandala tells the story of an unhappy bride who fills her loneliness by conjuring fantasies, dreams and illusions to give meaning to her life.
The meaning of creativity is explored to its fullest as fictional and real characters intermingle, and the lines between the visible and the invisible are blurred.
Chowdhury is the recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award - the highest national recognition given to practising artists in India - and her work has been presented at major festivals around the world, including LIFT, Festival d'Avignon and Festival of Perth.
