Rosas — Rosas danst Rosas / Zeitung
UK PREMIERE
Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s Rosas remains one of the most innovative, boundary-pushing contemporary dance companies in the world. This season the company brings two contrasting works to London – the classic Rosas danst Rosas and the UK premiere of Zeitung.
One of the company’s earliest works, Rosas danst Rosas premiered in 1983 and has since been performed countless times all over the world – firmly established as a classic with a permanent place in the Rosas repertoire and two Bessie Awards. To mark the work’s 25th anniversary, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker will reprise her original role alongside three members of the second generation; Cynthia Loemij, Sarah Ludi and Samantha Van Wissen.
- "A pure delight"
- LE MONDE on Zeitung
Created in 2008, Zeitung examines the unstable relationship between music and dance as nine Rosas dancers revolve around pianist Alain Franco, who performs J.S. Bach, Anton Webern and Arnold Schönberg live on stage. Choreography and music are performed sometimes in unison, sometimes at counterpoint, as De Keersmaeker seeks to explore the intersection of the two artforms.
