Siobhan Davies — body:language series

Archived Show

This event is finished. Click here to see the full talk.

body:language is a series of autumn talks in the Lilian Baylis Studio. These Monday evening discussions give us the chance to hear artists and cultural commentators talk about their art and work free from a specific show, project or creation.

In 2008 four talks took place with dramaturg and writer Guy Cools in conversation with four key choreographers. This year we look at ideas of structure and form, and how these can be defined in dance.

This is a special opportunity to hear choreographer Siobhan Davies talk about evolving structures in her work, and how one can reveal meaning through the language of the body.

The power and seduction of formal patterns in space and sound, along with the maturity of performers, and impact of location are some of the topics to be discussed with Davies, an artist renowned for her articulate analysis of the art form.

Video clips from her extensive archive as well as more recent creations will be used to illustrate the talk with Sadler's Wells Producer Emma Gladstone.
