Wah! Wah! Girls — A British Bollywood Musical
East London meets Bollywood in a sparkling new musical from Sadler’s Wells, Theatre Royal Stratford East and Kneehigh.
Written by acclaimed playwright Tanika Gupta (White Boy, Sugar Mummies) and directed by multi award-winning director Emma Rice (The Red Shoes, Brief Encounter), this extraordinary team of talents also includes set and costume designer Keith Khan, lighting designer Malcolm Rippeth and sound designer Simon Baker.
Featuring stunning dance sequences choreographed by Bollywood master Javed Sanadi and leading Kathak choreographer Gauri Sharma Tripathi, set to a mix of classic Bollywood tracks and new music by composer Niraj Chag, Wah! Wah! Girls is a feast for the senses that draws audiences into the world of the modern British-Asian community. Let the pleasure begin! Wah! Wah!

World Stages London
Wah! Wah! Girls is part of World Stages London, a two month celebration of London’s diversity through a series of exceptional shows created by leading UK and international artists. The initiative brings together leading London theatres to collaborate in a way never seen before, drawing inspiration from the UK, China, France, South Africa, Germany, Estonia, Brazil, Cuba, Nigeria, the Middle East and the US.
The partners are Battersea Arts Centre, Bush Theatre, Lyric Hammersmith, Royal Court Theatre, Sadler’s Wells, Somerset House, Theatre Royal Stratford East and Young Vic, in association with the National Theatre Studio. World Stages London will open at the Young Vic in April and close with Wah! Wah! Girls at the Peacock Theatre in June.
