Ctrl.Alt.Shift
Five young contemporary dance companies from the UK and Africa tackle the stigma surrounding HIV in a new production commissioned by the activist movement Ctrl.Alt.Shift.
OYO from Namibia, Boy Blue Entertainment, East London Dance Youth Company, Bennu Youth Dance from Leeds and FuzzyLogic from Southampton perform alongside audio visual features, illustrating the journey each group took to create their work. Music for the show has been supplied by some of the top names in the music industry including Mike Skinner, Mystery Jets, Goldilocks and Boy Better Know. Nitin Sawhney and Carlos Acosta have been selected as creative ambassadors for the project, offering inspiration for the performance.
The show is the culmination of a project that will see two London based dancers make a trip to Africa to work with OYO youth dance. OYO (Ombetja Yehinga Organisation) have for many years used the creative arts to educate Namibian's about avoiding HIV infection.
This event is part of Ctrl.Alt.Shift that aims to create a global community of outspoken young radicals from all over the world, people who are working together to fight against global poverty and social injustice.
