Family Weekend — balletLORENT - Rapunzel

Archived Show

Family Weekend is Sadler’s Wells’ annual two-day festival where the fun continues before and after the performance. With an array of exciting games and activities happening all over the building, this is an event that offers entertainment for all the family.

After sell-out performances at last Spring’s Family Weekend, balletLORENT’s Rapunzel returns to the main stage – the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale re-imagined by Liv Lorent, written by Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, and with narration from Lesley Sharp. Known for her cascading hair and entrapment within a tall tower, Rapunzel’s story shows the darker beauty of this classic tale – from the parents forced to give up their child and the Witch who takes her from them to the Prince who comes to her rescue.

This colourful and enchanting production features captivating music by Murray Gold (Doctor Who) and beautiful costumes by Michele Clapton (Game of Thrones).

“Liv Lorent was born to choreograph. Every move she creates, every piece of music she selects is handed to the audience like a precious gift”
