Apex Rising celebrates some of the most innovative and exciting dance being performed by young dancers and created by world leading choreographers. The two diverse programmes capture the power young dancers have in shaping the future of dance.

Programme A: Reflecting in the three years of NYDC, this vibrant and powerful young company perform a panorama of their commissioned repertoire choreographed by Sadler's Wells Associate Artists. NYDC present (in between) by Jasmin Vardimon, The Rashomon Effect directed by Akram Khan and choreographed by Andrej Petrovič and Frame[d] by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. NYDC has fast established a reputation for challenging, high quality work, bringing together some of the brightest talent from across England.

Programme B: A surprising evening with a confluence of styles and energy featuring influential work from: Groupe Grenade–Josette Baïz performing repertoire by Sadler's Wells Associate Artists Wayne McGregor and Hofesh Shechter, National Youth Dance Company of Scotland presenting work by Anna Kenrick, National Youth Dance Wales performing a newly commissioned piece by Kerry Nicholls and NYDC presenting a restaged excerpt of Akram Khan’s Vertical Road.

Groupe Grenade-Josette Baïz is supported by the French Institute and the Region PACA for this special event at Sadler's Wells, and is supported by Conseil Départemental des Bouches-du-Rhône, the Communauté du Pays d’Aix, Ville d’Aix-en-Provence.

National Youth Dance Company of Scotland (NYDCS) is the flagship contemporary dance company of YDance (Scottish Youth Dance). YDance is funded by Creative Scotland.

National Youth Dance Wales is part of National Youth Arts Wales and is supported by WJEC/CBAC, Welsh Government and the Arts Council of Wales.
