Fabulous free fun for all the family!

This Easter, Family Weekend transforms the building with a burst of colour and activity, offering something fun for all ages with free activities that complement the shows on the stages: balletLORENT’s Snow White and Tom Dale Company’s Digitopia. The theme for this year’s Family Weekend is ‘storytelling’ and its capacity for introducing you into different worlds.

From 1-4pm on Fri 25 Mar and from 10am-4pm on Sat 26 Mar there will be drop-in Digitopia-inspired craft sessions, delivered by children’s theatre specialists MOKO Dance.

Also from 12.30-5pm on Fri 25 Mar and from 10am-5pm on Sat 26 Mar there will be more fantastic free activities taking place all over the building as part of Family Weekend. Rosie Heafford and the team from Second Hand Dance will stage pop-up performances, dress ups and interactive games to get kids moving in the Rosebery Room. The Mezzanine Wood will be transformed into an enchanted forest where children will be encouraged to write ‘I dream of…’ on apples and leaves which will then be fixed to The Tree of Dreams. Children and their families will also be invited to share their own stories by contributing to the Once Upon A Time wall.

The Story Den will be filled with books to read and there will be a book bed where duvets are turned back to reveal book pages. The First Circle floor will be converted to a large mirror to inspire children to draw self-portraits in their very own hand-held mirror, which they can take away with them.

There will be opportunities for screen printing, drawing, hat making, face painting and so much more.

The front of house is designed by Charlotte Austen and Ella Medley-Whitfield.
