Sadler's Wells and Universal Music UK are auditioning dancers for a brand new production choreographed by Kate Prince (ZooNation) and inspired by the hits of one of the world's biggest rock/pop superstars.

What we are looking for
We welcome dancers who are charismatic, highly skilled and diverse, whose abilities span more than just one genre of dance, including but not limited to contemporary, breaking, locking, popping, house dance, krump, African dance, lindy hop, salsa, experimental and freestyle.

We want to work with dancers who love to tell stories and feel comfortable doing character work. There will be a lot of ensemble work in the production and performers will need to be adaptable to different styles and able to follow choreography.

This is a barefoot production, there is no requirement to speak or sing.

We are looking for world-class dancers with the highest levels of skill.

We are committed to building a culturally diverse workforce and actively encourage applicants from different backgrounds.

Applicants must be aged 18+ at the time of the audition.

Dates of the engagement
The engagement will be from Monday 11 November 2019, with the outlook to end on Saturday 9 May 2020. This is inclusive of a 10-week rehearsal period (including production weeks), a London run at the Peacock Theatre followed by UK and International tour.

Please note that at this early stage the end date is subject to change.

Applicants must be available for both audition dates Friday 22 and Saturday 23 March.

First-round auditions will happen on Friday 22 March with call-backs on Saturday 23 March.

Please note: without a video link where you can be clearly identified we cannot progress your application.

Strictly NO ADMISSION on the day, the audition is invitation only.

Deadline for applications is 23:00 on Sunday 3 March 2019. Unfortunately, late applications cannot not be considered.

Please note:

  • Regrettably, there will be no contributions made towards any travel required for the audition
  • We will respond to successful and unsuccessful applications week commencing 11 March 2019
  • Applicants must hold a valid work permit or visa enabling them to legally work in the UK for the duration of the engagement.

What length and/or format video should I provide?

  • Length shouldn’t exceed 10 mins
  • Please send a link (YouTube, Vimeo or Dailymotion). Do not attach the video directly to the email.

Note: the video will not be shared and will be used as an audition material only.

When will I receive the result of my application?

We will respond to both successful and unsuccessful applications, week commencing 11 March 2019.

Can I audition by video and not attend an audition?

Unfortunately we will not be accepting video-only applications on this occasion.

I am only free on one of the audition dates, can I still apply?

No. Unfortunately, you need to be free on both dates.

Do I need to have had formal dance training?

No, we are simply looking for world-class dancers with the highest levels of skill.

I missed the deadline, will you accept a late application?

No. Unfortunately, we cannot accept late applications.

I am not from London, can my travel and/or accommodation be reimbursed?

No, accommodation, travel and subsistence must be covered by the applicant.

Can you give me more details about the audition process/ structure?

For the first-round auditions, invited dancers will be asked to participate in a workshop led by director and choreographer, Kate Prince; associate choreographer, Lukas McFarlane and dancer Tommy Franzen.

How many people will be selected for the project/ for the recall?

This is unknown and will depend on the calibre of applications received.

Who will be on the audition panel?

The audition will be run by director and choreographer, Kate Prince; associate chorographer, Lukas McFarlane, and producers from Sadler’s Wells and Universal Music UK.

What clothes should I wear to audition in?

Clothing that you feel comfortable dancing in.

Do I need to prepare a solo?

No, this is a group workshop audition.

Do I need to bring a printed copy of my headshot?

No, you only need to send a digital copy by email as part of the application process.

Do I need to bring food?

Food will not be provided, depending on your call time you may want to bring some with you. Please note: it is not permitted to eat inside the studios but there are public spaces in and outside the building where it is fine to do so.
