In 2009-10 we increased our audience to a record 600,000 for 872 performances across 136 productions. New Sadler's Wells productions included the centenary celebration of Les Ballets Russes, In the Spirit of Diaghilev; the major survey of recent work by seminal choreographer William Forsythe, Focus on Forsythe; and Svapnagata, the two-week festival of Indian music and dance curated by Nitin Sawhney and Akram Khan.

We also presented more offsite projects than ever before ranging from Electric Hotel, which was staged against the dramatic backdrop of the last remaining Victorian Gas Holder at King?s Cross Central, and William Forsythe's company at Tate Modern, to festival appearances at Latitude in Suffolk and the Tower Festival at the Tower of London. In searching for the next generation of dance talent, our online Global Dance Contest attracted 170 applications from 34 different countries.
