Sadler’s Wells support for schools and colleges
Sadler’s Wells believes the arts play a key role in children’s education. Dance in particular is an excellent tool for developing creativity, critical thinking, team work and self-confidence. Our artistic programme is a rich resource for schools and colleges teaching dance and provides opportunities for children and young people to experience work by some of the world’s greatest dance artists, many of whom are a core part of the dance curriculum at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.

At Sadler’s Wells we offer reduced rate tickets for schools and colleges, organise CPD opportunities for teachers and run an Associate Schools programme.

Associate Schools
Sadler's Wells works in partnership with a number of schools and colleges in North and East London to provide opportunities for children and young people to engage in high quality dance experiences.

We recognise that schools and colleges have a pivotal role to play in connecting children and young people to cultural experiences and we work closely with our Associate Schools to embed arts activity into the school day. In collaboration with our Associate Schools, we design memorable and magical experiences for children and young people to watch, explore and critically engage with dance, drawing on our world-class and diverse artistic programme.

Resources for Teachers

Sutra- Teachers Resource Pack

As a Set Work on the AQA A level dance specification, this resource is intended to provide an insight to Sutra (2008) created by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. Through interviews with the artists involved, it explores the origins of Sutra, the creative process and contains an analysis of the work. It is designed to be used in conjunction with the Sutra DVD and includes written and practical tasks to support A level dance teachers in the delivery of the work.

It has been written and compiled by Lucy Muggleton with the generous support of Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, his collaborators and the Sutra team at Sadler’s Wells.
