Offering a unique and inspiring night at the theatre, this concert will combine traditional Chinese calligraphy and modern ballet, featuring a live performance from renowned Chinese calligrapher Li Binquan. Li Binquan has performed all over the world including in such prestigious venues as the Hofburg Palace and Golden Hall in Vienna and at the National Centre for Performing Arts in China. He has collaborated with the National Symphony Orchestra of the Czech Republic, Franz Lehar Orchestra and the China Opera and Dance-Drama Company.

Chinese calligraphy is at the heart of traditional Chinese culture, when combined with modern dance the result is a stunning synergy of Eastern and Western culture. As calligraphy can be seen as visual interpretation of dance on paper, so the movements of a ballet dancer reflect the beauty and aesthetics of calligraphy.

This concert has been organised by the Chinese Calligraphy Association and the Cultural Foreign Exchange Centre of the Chinese Ministry of Culture in co-operation with the Austrian-Chinese Cultural Exchange Association and the Austrian-Chinese Friendship Association.
