Second night added due to demand.

After two highly successful seasons, Wild Card returns for a third series. This Sadler’s Wells initiative gives emerging artists the opportunity to present several works of their choice in a mixed bill. It brings fresh ideas to the stage by giving new dance talent a platform to share their work and introduce cutting edge artists who inspire them.

Originally from Belgium, Cindy Claes (Association of Dance of the African Diaspora Trailblazer 2013-2014) creates social and political work using hip hop, dancehall and krumping. A dancer, actress, playwright and choreographer, her work has been showcased in the UK, and internationally, notably at the San Francisco Hiphop Dancefest. She is currently researching setting up a dance exchange between Jamaica and the UK.

For Wild Card, Claes opens up the world of Jamaican dancehall. The evening, Dancehall Takeover, brings together comedy, strong emotions and powerful Jamaican street dance in a high energy programme that pays tribute to this dynamic, urban genre.
