Stopgap Dance Company makes exhilarating dance productions with exceptional disabled and non-disabled artists. Their work is fuelled by the new and exciting possibilities that arise from the dialogue between distinctive dancers.

For their performances in the Lilian Baylis Studio as part of the =dance season, they present their latest production, Artificial Things.

Slowly suffocating in each other’s company, a group of friends seek escape in a bash of riotous rock-n-roll. However, their wild disorder descends into playground politics and reveals some uncomfortable truths.

In this cinematic and evocative production Stopgap Dance Company creates a compact world of riddles that question our notions about unity and co-existence.

Artificial Things is the debut production by Stopgap’s Artistic Director Lucy Bennett, who is one of UK’s leading experts in integrated choreography. The production is danced and devised by a captivating cast including David Toole.

Artificial Things was made possible through the generous support of:
Arts Council England, Farnham Maltings, Pavilion Dance South West, PASS Circus Channel (Interreg), The Point – Eastleigh, University of Surrey & Zinc Arts
