Rosebery Avenue, London, EC1R
Northern Light is a celebration of Nordic dance, showcasing a range of artists from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Sweden and Norway performing across Sadler's Wells, the Lilian Baylis Studio and the Platform Theatre in Kings Cross.
Sadler's Wells' main stage will host two world-renowned companies from Sweden. Making their first UK London appearances since 1995, Royal Swedish Ballet performs Mats Ek's Juliet & Romeo, a dynamic adaptation of the Shakespearean love story, bringing this much-loved story into the 21st century. Making their Sadler's Wells debut, Cullberg Ballet present Jefta van Dinther's Plateau Effect, a complex and intriguing spectacle that brings together breathtaking staging with intriguing and beautiful choreography.
Productions in the Lilian Baylis Studio give a platform to emerging contemporary artists. Iceland's Margrét Sara Guðjónsdóttir and Finland's Maija Hirvanen explore the act of watching, questioning the audience's role in dance performance. The Norwegian company zero visibility corp. revive one of their most popular pieces ...it's only a rehearsal, a duet inspired by Greek myth and Danish choreographer Mette Ingvartsen presents the UK premiere of her work The Artificial Nature Project at the Platform Theatre at Central Saint Martins.
