What does it mean to be seen? What part does the gaze play in our construction of the world around us? This powerful, physical duet revolves around a pair of lovers, who set aside performative elements and ornate scenery to unravel a relationship using pure physical expression.

…it’s only a rehearsal takes inspiration from the Greek myth of Artemis and Acteaon, in which the goddess Artemis wreaks revenge on Acteaon after he sees her bathing naked. Artemis punishes the hunter by turning him into a deer, and Acteaon’s own dogs tear him to pieces.

Returning to the UK specially for Sadler’s Wells Northern Light season, zero visibility corp. is one of the leading Norwegian dance companies, under the direction of the acclaimed choreographer Ina Christel Johannessen.

…it’s only a rehearsal is perhaps their best known work, having been performed across the world from New York to Paris, Sydney and Avignon over the last ten years. These performances will star long-time company member Line Tørmoen and Dmitri Jourde, a collaborator with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui’s Eastman company.

“Startling sensual 21st Century motion. This is no rehearsal. This is the real deal"
