Apex Rising celebrates some of the most innovative and exciting dance being performed by young dancers and created by world leading choreographers. The two diverse programmes capture the power young dancers have in shaping the future of dance.
Programme A: Reflecting in the three years of NYDC, this vibrant and powerful young company perform a panorama of their commissioned repertoire choreographed by Sadler's Wells Associate Artists. NYDC present (in between) by Jasmin Vardimon, The Rashomon Effect directed by Akram Khan and choreographed by Andrej Petrovič and Frame[d] by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. NYDC has fast established a reputation for challenging, high quality work, bringing together some of the brightest talent from across England.
Programme B: A surprising evening with a confluence of styles and energy featuring influential work from: Groupe Grenade–Josette Baïz performing repertoire by Sadler's Wells Associate Artists Wayne McGregor and Hofesh Shechter, National Youth Dance Company of Scotland presenting work by Anna Kenrick, National Youth Dance Wales performing a newly commissioned piece by Kerry Nicholls and NYDC presenting a restaged excerpt of Akram Khan’s Vertical Road.
