Famed for creating dance that is highly original and often surreal, trailblazing director Alain Platel returns with a deeply moving and witty tribute to the world of brass bands.
- "A glorious sense of chaos with a deep sense of fun"
- THE GUARDIAN
Set in a rehearsal room, En avant, marche! celebrates the marching band community surrounding a dying, yet larger-than-life trombonist as he comes to terms with his lot – and his demotion to cymbal player.
Fusing live music, dance, theatre and opera, four actors and seven musicians are joined on stage by The Heroes Band, playing marching band classics along with Holst, Verdi, Mahler and more.
A hit at the 2015 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Alain Platel has once again teamed up with Frank Van Laecke and Steven Prengels (the trio behind the Olivier Award nominated Gardenia) to offer audiences an experience unlike any other in dance theatre.
