World Premiere

Blending traditional training with innovation, nurturing the creativity and artistry of students, and with an equal focus on classical ballet and contemporary dance, Rambert School’s ethos is reflected in tonight’s programme.

In this mixed programme we present three newly commissioned works by guest choreographers Jenna Lee, Didy Veldman and, Rambert School alumnus, Mark Bruce. The evening also includes a new work by the School’s Deputy Principal, Darren Ellis, created in collaboration with Head of Music Barry Ganberg. Second year students will perform an excerpt of Dan Wagoner’s fast and challenging ‘White Heat’, originally created for London Contemporary Dance Theatre in 1990, re-staged by Paul Liburd.

Richard Alston first created work for Rambert School in 1982: we are thrilled that Richard returned recently to create ‘Glint’ on a group of second year students. In keeping with Rambert School’s reputation for nurturing choreographic talent, students’ work is represented through a number of short pieces of original choreography.
