Akram Khan returns to the Roundhouse in January to give his last ever performance of the epic and theatrical Until the Lions, adapted from Karthika Naïr's award-winning book Until the Lions: Echoes from the Mahabharata.

Exploring notions of gender and time in a battle for justice and liberty, this piece showcases Khan’s powerful blend of classical Indian Kathak movement with the very best in contemporary dance.

Until the Lions follows Khan’s acclaimed sold-out run of his final full length solo, XENOS, at Sadler’s Wells in 2018.

★★★★ "Its a thrilling piece, which shows off Khan at his off-kilter storytelling best"

★★★★ "With this arresting take on an episode from the Mahabharata, Khan creates an epic theatrical space and a battleground"

★★★★ "This is a little firecracker of a show, one that really stays with you and grows in the memory"

This production is a partial adaptation of Until the Lions: Echoes from the Mahabharata, a retelling in verse of the Mahabharata by Karthika Naïr (HarperCollins India & Arc Publications, UK). The show is produced by Akram Khan Company and co-produced by the Roundhouse and Sadler’s Wells.
