It’s been seven years since Ballet Preljocaj performed their Snow White at Sadler’s Wells. Continuing his exploration of fairytales, the daring contemporary choreographer Angelin Preljocaj turns his attention to a traditional Chinese tale.
A traveller takes shelter from the rain in a temple and soon finds himself enchanted by one of the women depicted in a painting on the wall.
La Fresque (“The painting on the wall” in French) features costumes designed by “couture’s rebellious outsider” (The Guardian), the late Azzedine Alaïa, a haunting set by Preljocaj’s regular collaborator Constance Guisset and music from Nicolas Godin, co-founder of the group Air.
