AΦE returns to Sadler’s Wells with this specially commissioned augmented reality experience merging dance and technology. AΦE is an exciting young company founded in 2013 by dance artists Aoi Nakamura and Esteban Fourmi; they create bold performances and installations not bound by the stage, taking the audience on unusual journeys using new technologies.
Inspired by the 2005 ground-breaking production zero degrees - a collaboration between Sadler’s Wells Associate Artists Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Akram Khan and Nitin Sawney, with sculptor Antony Gormely - 0AR invites you to explore, interact and move around Sadler’s Wells foyer, where your actions determine your experience. It uses Augmented Reality technology with 5 iPads connected together to experience extracts of the original dance performance, this time created in 3D animation. You can interact in real time with fellow audience members and with the animation.
This 10-minute augmented reality experience is free, for all ages and takes place in the Mezzanine level at Sadler’s Wells foyer between 6pm and 7.30pm on Friday 17 and 12noon until 8pm Saturday 18 April. Note this experience is not available on Sunday 19 April.
