Digital Stage
Rain is a seminal work by choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, performed by her world-renowned company, Rosas. Created in 2001 and first performed on our stage in 2017, it now returns to audiences via the Sadler’s Wells Digital Stage.
With this vibrant choreography, De Keersmaeker combines two of her great loves: pure dance and the minimalistic music of Steve Reich. Delineated by a curtain of fine strings, 10 dancers display an impressive succession of virtuoso dance phrases, in jewel-toned costumes by designer Dries van Noten.
Rain exemplifies the signature characteristics of De Keersmaeker’s choreography which make her one of the most important dancemakers of a generation: the mathematical figures, the sustained repetition, the geometric occupation of the space and the art of continuous variation.
Whether you're new to dance or a contemporary dance connoisseur, Rain can be enjoyed for its sublime marriage of music and movement.
Join us for the Sadler's Wells Facebook Premiere of Rain at 7.30pm BST on Friday 10 April. It will be available to watch for 7 days after.
