Project XO is a cutting-edge dance installation devised by New Movement Collective with collaborators Kai Lab, Visualpilots and FENYCE Workspace. This unique encounter invites members of the public to wear a robotic exoskeleton which will move their body in a precise choreography.
Exploring themes of power, agency and empathy, this performance is a 3-way interaction between participant, performer and technology. The robotic suit both subdues and empowers the wearer, as we watch this haunting interaction and wonder about who the ambiguous ‘creator’ behind the movement is. With lighting by Guy Hoare and music by Högni (Erased Tapes), Project XO is an immersive embodied experience and an unusual spectacle.
You can take part as a participant wearing the robotic suit or as an audience member by watching the interaction in the intimate setting of our dance studio.
Note patrons must be aged 18+ to take part by wearing the suit. The suit weighs 20kg and participants will be asked to wear the suit for around 30 minutes. Patrons interested in participating in the performance will receive more information after the booking, will be asked to sign a consent form and to arrive early for a briefing including safety instructions.
