A snowy stage sets the scene for an icy cold Christmas eve, where the little match girl paces the emptying streets, desperately trying to sell her matches.

Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s traditional tale and with a powerful message at its heart, The Little Match Girl reminds us of the importance of kindness and to consider those less fortunate than ourselves.

This world-class dance production with live music performed on stage will be free to access from 2 September 2025 – 31 January 2026, alongside a fantastic selection of resources, which have been tailored to suit Key Stage Levels One and Two. The resources include lesson plans and a video dance workshop, offering a framework for exploring different areas of the curriculum, including Victorian History, themes of kindness and greed in SMSC and the classic work of literature by Hans Christian Andersen in literacy.
