Matthew Bourne's Sleeping Beauty - New Adventures
Framed by a thicket of tangled tree branches, Aurora leaps forward in a white flowing gown, her arms out to the sides and her leg kicked back. From among the branches, six fairies and elves are emerging, dressed decadently in black and gold, and reaching towards Aurora. Around them all are red roses and rose petals, floating in the air and carpeting the floor. In a central opening in the thicket, a full moon can be seen shining through the trees.

Dada Masilo's The Sacrifice
Five Black women stand facing us, leaning forwards as their hands join to clap. The woman closest to us (Dada Masilo) has her head thrown back, mouth open in a joyful smile. They wear soft green sleeveless dresses, the hems dipped in black, with a glimpse of red underskirt. In the background, the silhouettes of trees are projected against a violet sky.

Five dancers face us in a tight group, all with knees bent wide and arms extended to the sides, palms facing upwards, in a pose from the Indian classical dance form, bharatanatyam. Their faces are serious, the gaze lifted. They wear loose sleeveless tunics and trousers in lilacs, greens and pinks.
