Five Dances is an eighteen-month development programme supporting five artists to create an original midscale work for a building wide takeover festival at Sadlers Wells East in the Summer of 2027.

Each choreographer will receive a development commission, dedicated studio space, along with mentoring, dramaturgical and production support to create their work for the Five Dances Festival in 2027.

The works will be presented in The Martha Graham studio, Sadlers Wells East auditorium and outdoor on the East bank estate.

The five artists were selected through a national nomination panel made up of a mix of dance organisations, independent artists, and companies. Of the thirty final applicants ten were invited to interview and a final five were selected.

The selected artists are:

• Simeon Campbell, London
• Liam Francis, Brighton
• Chandenie Gobardhan, London
• Malcolm Sutherland, Stirling
• Ray Young, Nottingham
