About the show

Everything we perceive is shaped by reflection—without light, there is no vision. White light, or visible light, is composed of seven wavelengths perceptible to the human eye. When we see red, it is not the color itself we witness, but the reflection of what remains after all other wavelengths are absorbed. This raises a profound question: what lies beyond what we can see? The unseen has long fascinated artists, philosophers, and scientists alike. Some even propose the existence of a mirror universe, a parallel world governed by its own mirrored physics.

Opposites define one another: night cannot exist without day, reflection cannot exist without an object. Our very experience relies on this interplay of contrast.

These ideas are embodied in the reflective set design of this creation. For the first time, Tentacle Tribe introduces a fully transformable environment: six mobile mirrored panels gliding across a reflective floor. More than mere scenery, these structures become active partners in the choreography—supporting the performers’ weight, multiplying their images, and expanding the possibilities of movement. The mirrors echo the work’s central themes, inviting audiences to contemplate reflection, identity, illusion, and the mysteries that reside just beyond visibility.

About Tentacle Tribe

Tentacle Tribe was founded in 2012 through the Canadian–Swedish collaboration of choreographers and performers Emmanuelle Lê Phan and Elon Höglund. Blending their experience and creativity, the duo transcends the boundaries of street and contemporary dance to craft a distinctive signature. Drawing on Hip Hop concepts, their movement language is rooted in Breaking and Popping while also channeling the physicality of the animal kingdom, with a strong emphasis on partnering. Whether performing as a duo or with an ensemble, Tentacle Tribe creates symbiotic constellations of bodies and optical illusions that mesmerize audiences and invite active engagement. Always pursuing innovation, the company integrates technology and interdisciplinary practices to expand the scope of their dance.

Deeply anchored in the street dance community, Lê Phan and Höglund are committed not only to artistic excellence but also to community development and accessibility. Their works take many forms—performed in theatres, cinemas, public spaces, and online—and they nurture the next generation through workshops, mentorship, and commissioned creations in both dance and circus.

Over the past decade, Tentacle Tribe has created nine stage works, including THREESIXNINE—winner of the Prix de la Danse—GHOST, and PRISM. They have gained international recognition touring across Canada, Europe, the US, South Korea, both in the contemporary realm, as well as making a huge impact in the Hiphop Theater world, partnering with pillars such as Breakin’ Convention and Summer Dance Forever.

Their choreography has also been translated into award-winning dance films by director Marites Carino: Vanishing Points, Crack the Cypher, Mami Origami, and Offspin Cycle, screened at more than 60 international festivals.

The company’s expertise has been recognized worldwide. They have collaborated with Cirque du Soleil and Cirque Éloize for special events, and their group work was featured at Montreal’s prestigious C2 Summit. They have also created commissioned works for Vancouver’s OURO Collective, Norway’s Urban Moves Festival, 100Lux Festival, Stockholm’s DOCH, Toronto’s York University, Arizona State University, Rutgers University, École de danse de Québec, and Montreal’s National Circus School.

Looking ahead, Tentacle Tribe is expanding its contribution to the development of street dance by launching Québec City’s first street dance festival, Coro Casse, in partnership with Grand Théâtre de Québec and La Rotonde.
