S-E-D // Sharon Eyal Into The Hairy

Freesheet

A group of dancers dressed in black lace bodysuits perform on stage, with one dancer posed prominently in front and the others positioned closely behind.

Deep Into the Hairy… Dirty and gentle. Broken. Alone. Alone. Alone. Alone. Deeper. Stronger. Weaker. Sadder. More alone. Hole.

Diamond shining off alone. Mustn’t be night. Skies and heart.

My love chapter 245. I LovE you. My Harry……..

Into The Hairy created by Sharon Eyal for S-E-D Dance Company collaborating with London-based artist, producer and composer Koreless. This creation is the first full-length collaboration of Sharon Eyal with Koreless, who created the original soundtrack for the piece. An expanded version of the production, created with NDT premiered in the Netherlands earlier this year and won the Dutch Swan for best dance performance 2025.

About Sharon Eyal | Gai Behar

Sharon Eyal (b. 1971, Jerusalem) danced with the Batsheva Dance Company between 1990 and 2008 and started choreographing within the framework of the company’s Batsheva Dancers Create project. Eyal served as Associate Artistic Director for Batsheva from 2003–04, and as a House Choreographer for the company from 2005–12.

In 2005, she partnered with Gai Behar (b. 1977, Tel Aviv) – who shaped the Tel Aviv nightlife scene as party producer and curator of multidisciplinary art events from 1999–2005 – and Behar has collaborated on Eyal’s creations ever since. In 2013, Eyal and Behar launched their dance company. Its repertoire is co-produced with some of the leading dance venues around the globe.

Alongside their work with S-E-D, Eyal and Behar create commissioned pieces for external companies, including the Paris Opera, Nederlands Dans Theater, Staatsballett Berlin, the Royal Swedish Ballet and the GöteborgsOperans Danskompani and more. Since August 2022, S-E-D is a registered non-profit French Association, basing its activity in France.

Eyal and Behar frequently collaborate with major names outside of the traditional dance world. They worked on various fashion shows with Christian Dior Couture and Maria Grazia Chiuri, developed projects with the music label YOUNG, and participated on the album I Am Easy To Find by The National and Mike Milles with Eyal dancing in the music videos for the songs Hairpin Turns and Hey Rosey, as well as performing live for the opening concert of their international tour at the L’Olympia in Paris.

About Alon Cohen

Lead light designer & technical director: Alon Cohen, born in Jerusalem 1970, is a lighting designer, programmer, technical director and consultant. Got involved already as a teenager in stage and performing arts under his father, a crew member at the local Jerusalem Theatre and eventually got drawn to the trade. Cohen started as a lighting programmer in the early 1990’s, specializing in automated lighting. The famous lighting designer Avi Yona (Bambi) Bueno then became his mentor and most important influence. Fascinated by lighting control systems, inspired by Pink Floyd’s 1994 live concert and designer Marc Brickman, Cohen applied design works for the local National Theater (Habimah), beat-group Mayumana, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, commercial or corporate events -locally and internationally. He also worked with local choreographers such as Yasmeen Godder and Inbal Pinto, teaching and instructing lighting students, and repeatedly as Bambi’s head programmer and assistant.

Today Cohen is working with and designing mostly for Sharon Eyal’s L-E-V Dance, along with other companies such as recently for Germany’s Tanz Mainz, Royal Opera Stockholm, Royal Opera Gothenburg and Nederlands Dans Theater.
