Gift Aid

Make your gift go further

What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a simple way of making your gift give more.

For every pound you give to Sadler'’s Wells we can claim an additional 25p from HM Revenue & Customs on the donation portion of your gift. So if you join as a Commissioning Patron at £1000 Sadler’'s Wells will receive an extra £187.50. All you need to do is complete a Gift Aid declaration.

To qualify for Gift Aid, you must be a UK taxpayer and you must pay at least enough Income and/or Capital Gains Tax equal to the donation portion of your gift.

What if I pay a higher rate Income Tax?
Higher rate tax payers can claim tax relief equal to the difference between the higher rate of tax at 40% or 45% and the basic rate of tax at 20% on the total value of the donation. This equates to a relief claim of either 20% or 25% on the donation including the amount Sadler’s Wells claims from Gift Aid.

So, if you pay 40% tax and donate £100 to Sadler’s Wells, the total donation allowing for Gift Aid at the basic rate would be £125 (£100 donation + £25 Gift Aid) and you could then claim relief at 20% (which in this example would be £25). If you wish you can donate your tax relief to Sadler'’s Wells through your self-assessment tax return.
