Flamenco workshop

Level: Beginners

Magdalena and Noemí from Dotdotdot Dance give us a taste of flamenco, accompanied by participants Ghazal, Kate and Omena.

We encourage you to enjoy the movement and have fun, without worrying about copying the moves perfectly. All of these workshops are suitable for beginners and some can be done standing or seated. Choose the ones that are right for you.

Arm Movements

Magdalena leads us through some typical flamenco arm movements, known as braceo. This workshop can be done standing or seated.

Rhythm and Clapping

Noemí guides us through two essential elements of flamenco – compás (rhythm) and palmas (clapping). We’ll discover the difference between hard and soft clapping and use this to clap to different rhythms. This workshop can be done standing or seated.

Let’s try some flamenco footwork! Anyone can take part in this workshop, but it’s recommended to wear some kind of comfortable footwear. We’ll practice stamping out different rhythms.
